AMANDA'S STORY
Bre Hanks
“My story is not an easy one. It didn’t go the way I expected it to. I had my own plan in mind, and it was similar to the stories of my friends around me. But I have learned that my story is unique. My story is special, and it will someday have the most beautiful ending.
I have been trying to conceive for 3.5 years. I’ve been pregnant once but lost him at 19 weeks. That was the hardest thing I have ever endured. Since that loss, I have not been able to get pregnant. We had done one round of IVF that ended in a chemical pregnancy. Our second round was canceled in March due to COVID 19. We are now just starting our second round again and praying that this time it results in a baby I can someday bring home. I used to feel so alone. Everyone around me got pregnant so easily. Even those that didn’t get pregnant easily still got pregnant before me. I watched friends have one child, then another, all while I was desperately trying to have just one. It felt unfair and I was consumed with feelings of envy. Recently I have realized that I need to trust in God’s plan. I know he has a great one for me, and it is better than I could ever imagine.
I decided to share my story recently in order to help other women feel less alone. I started an Instagram account as a way to share, and the amazing women I have met through doing this has changed my outlook on my own story.
I am in awe of the strength and love I have experienced in that community. I hope that my story can help someone in the same way that others' stories have helped me.”
